Bring back the happy Kelp!

Over the past few months my thoughts have drifted much to far towards the negative. Hell, it’s summer and I’m wearing flip flops to work. I really really like when I can do that. I have some good friends and it looks like I’m going to be doing quite well financially. I have some hard decisions to make about my future over the next few months or a year, but I can and will make them. I get tired sometimes, but then I can sleep. I still play World Of Warcraft, and I really enjoy it, but I also spend time with my friends. The place I live is great! and the future is looking good. I have the job experience and qualifications to get many jobs in many many places. I know how to talk so I can rock those interviews.

Things are good, so lets put on a possitive attitude, it’s more becoming anyway. If it gets too hard, I’ve got plenty of options. Thank you modern medicine. Thank you.

Today's Observation of the Obvious

Flickr is the new Friendster except it’s actually useful.

This has been Today’s Observation of the Obvious™

Here comes the scandal

The Washington Post reports on the brewing scandal over in the Bush administration.

Fitzgerald is investigating whether senior administration officials leaked CIA operative Valerie Plame’s name to reporters in July 2003 as retaliation after her husband, former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, publicly accused the Bush administration of twisting intelligence to justify a war with Iraq.

Wow, this is a huge deal. We are talking about treason here. Now I wonder why this isn’t getting yelled about more. Perhaps it will heat up soon.

Alcohol and cancer

I just ran across some choice info about alcohol and cancer.

Nearly 50 percent of cancers of the mouth, pharynx, and larynx are associated with heavy drinking. People who drink large quantities of alcohol over time have an increased risk of these cancers as compared with abstainers. If they drink and smoke, the increase in risk is even more dramatic.

We are constantly bombarded with propoganda about how bad smoking is, how it’s going to cause cancer, etc. I wonder why the alcohol link is news to me. I knew it caused liver damage, everyone does, and it kills brain cells, but cancer is new. And this after the 4 days of solid drinking for the long weekend.

Greasemonkey is super cool

Thanks to Laural I finally checked out Greasemonkey and wow is it way cool. I may have to give up Safari again at home in favor of Firefox, again.

Greasemonkey lets you use javascript to modify any web page, any way you want. Now this sounds hard, which is why I didn’t mess with it before, but like Laural says, tons of people have already done the hard work of creating the scripts.

Some of the cool things I’ve found:

  • Textile in every form I haven’t tested this a bunch yet, but the idea is way cool. I would much rather use textile, and this adds textile support to every form. Cool.

  • RIAA Radar adds a little icon telling you music on Amazon is published by an RIAA member. Note the link takes you directly to the java script.

  • Password Composer is a very neat idea for creating unique and strong passwords for every site. You just have to remember your master password and the sites name.
