AdSense and a bit about how I like Google.

You see, the thing about Google products is they work, and they work well. They aren’t overly complex, at least not for the user, and they are just easy to get working.

I just plugged in some Adsense stuff and it was pretty damn easy. I had a bit of an annoying time wondering why the heck the ads weren’t showing up. I finally realized I had to turn off Adblock Plus because the Adblock .Filterset.G Updater seems to install something to block all
Google ads. Not something I wanted, since Google ads don’t actually bother me and are sometimes even useful. So I guess I have to whitelist that.

I’ve also recently enabled Google Analytics, but am still waiting for data to show up. Looks neat so far though. I’m quite impressed with how well all of this is put together and how straight forward all the instructions are.

MPAA coming down...

The ISP I use for my home DSL just called with an abuse warning from the MPAA citing a DMCA violation. The MPAA said I was sharing 12 Monkeys.

My ISP was nice enough to give only a warning and make sure I didn’t have anything like that running. But that’s the only warning I get.

So it seems it’s true, the MPAA is out there trolling the bittorent sites for people to frighten. I would guess they are doing some sort of random sample, but I’m not sure how pervasive this really is. Enough to hit me though.

I want a way to buy high quality movie downloads. I want them to be unencumbered with DRM. In the mean time, I’ve been given yet more reason to NOT give my money to any MPAA members. I’ve bought a LOT of DVDs, and a LOT of music online. If only I could buy movies online this would all go away.

Now I need to go give some more money to the EFF and look into installing Tor so I can worry a little less about someone watching me, regardless of what I may or may not be doing.
